Mouse, Raven and Snow Ptarmigan lived in the tundra. One day they decided to have pancakes for dinner.
"Who'll go to the store for flour?" Mouse said.
"Not me," said Raven.
"Nor me," said Ptarmigan.
"Then I'll go," said Mouse and went off for flour.
When she came back she said,
"Who'll make the dough?"
"Not me," said Raven.
"Nor me," said Ptarmigan.
"Then I will," said Mouse and went for water.
She poured the water into a bowl and added the flour and a pinch of salt. Then she kneaded the dough, put it on a board and rolled it out.
"Who'll fry the pancakes?" Mouse said.
"Not me," said Raven.
"Nor me," said Ptarmigan.
"Then I will," said Mouse and fried the pancakes. When they were ready she set them on the table and said, "Who'll eat the pancakes?"
"I will," said Raven.
"So will I," said Ptarmigan.
"Oh no," said Mouse. "You sat and watched while I did all the work. Now you can watch me eat."
So Mouse sat down and ate all the pancakes, which brings the story to an end.
