With his suite the Tsar departed. Long the Tsar sat lonely, brooding. |
But she was in equal measure |
All this time the Tsar’s own daughter |
On the night before the wedding |
With her bulging mother gazing |
Woman’s wrath would daunt the devil! |
“Well?” demanded the Tsaritsa, Rumour spread and caused a panic: |
Meanwhile his young bride kept walking |
Dinner time. The yard resounded, |
So the Princess rose, came down Days flew by — the Princess living And in time they grew to love her. |
“O my brave and bonny brothers, The Tsaritsa was still livid |
One day by her window waiting |
Up the stairs the Princess ran |
Now the brothers, as it chanced, |
Then the Eldest smote his breast That same day the bad Tsaritsa, In pursuit of his sweet bride |
Through the dark night Yelisei, |
Yelisei, not losing courage, |
With a howl the Wind was gone. |
It so happened the Tsaritsa Overcome by grief and spite, |
